The Smoky Twins is a project formed on winter 2011 by two lovers. We're an indie band attached to the old school blues sounds at the beginning of a journey.
Our first EP entitled "Southern Culture Kingdom" is a set of 3 bluesy songs recorded here and there in Europe. "Death Row" Recorded in Athens, GR, "Jesus's sand & Mary Jane" Recorded in Transylvania, RO and "The Blackbird Blues" Recorded in Marbach, DE. The recordings were made with the cheapest of equipment, a small laptop and an old sound card, and some times using just 1 microphone. We used all sorts of things from our surroundings as musical instruments (stones, carton boxes, frying pans and pots etc.) in order do give a special feel for each song of the place and the rooms we were in.
All over the world the "South" is oppressed, exploited and tortured by the "North" in many gruesome ways.
Some of the lyrics as well as the title "Southern Culture Kingdom" are meant as a tribute to all southern music and culture, to remind to the rest of the world about the importance of southern cultural heritage.
